Issues with .doc(x)/.pdf from Windows
Reported by Justin | October 20th, 2009 @ 04:48 PM
Doc/PDF uploads do not work from Windows environment -- no issues when server is running on Linux.
I'm experiencing the same issues as documented here:
http://groups.google.com/group/scribd-platform-developers/browse_th...
If it helps, I'm on:
Rails 2.3.4
rscribd 1.0.4
scribd_fu 2.0.4 (with attachment_fu)
I attached a sample file that works on linux but not on windows.

This appears to be an existing issue with Scribd's conversion process, not scribd_fu? Scribd_fu just uploads your document to Scribd and provides easy access to the converted document.

I suppose that's possible; however, it seems odd that it would work when running the server from one OS and not another.
Is it possible that windows is passing an incorrect type to the
upload
method? -

Are you getting any error? Does the upload fail or the conversion process? Have you tried removing the begin/rescue block in #upload and seeing what happens?
I'm not sure why scribd_fu would behave differently in Windows, but then again, I don't have a Windows server to test.

It's the conversion process that fails.
- Upload using sribd_fu from windows box: Conversion fails
- Upload using sribd_fu from linux box: Conversion succeeds
- Upload using sribd_fu from web UI: Conversion succeeds
I'll try removing the rescue block and let you know if that yields anything promising.
Thanks for the replies.
